A Douma for Russia Promised With Limited Powers

The czar announced a national assembly to be elected by 412 delegates from Russia and the Don military province. The douma will sit as the lower house, with the council as the upper house, and will have broad but restricted powers. It must meet by mid January 1906 and serve five years unless dissolved. It can consider laws, budgets, expropriation, railways, stock-company matters, and imperial decree submissions, but cannot alter fundamental administrative laws.

Galena Beats Maquoketa In Decisive Third Game

The Galena base ball club returned home Friday after sweeping Maquoketa 2 games to 1 in a slugfest final 12 to 4. Parish pitched for Galena and held the Iowa team scoreless late. Bar nett hit a home run as Galena rapped about fifteen hits. Bellevue locals hosted the series with gracious hospitality and Terry Weyhgant praised for umpiring. Next day Galena’s Strong was slated to start with Yesaler for Maquoketa. Sunday’s game was set for 4 15 PM with Mose Parish on the mound for Galena.

Maquoketa Baseball Game Delayed to 4 15 Sunday

Sunday's game for the Maquoketa team at 4315 will start at 4 15, an hour later than usual. A party including Rev D B McGrath Miss Mogene Smith Mary Kelly Birdie Desmond Frank Kelly and Joseph Harney will drive to Sinsinawa on Sunday to visit St Clara's.

Mrs. Chas Fernald of East Dubuque attempted self harm with a 38 caliber pistol last night at 8. The shot lodged near her heart. she lay in a bloodstained bed before doctors broke in. The weapon was spent and the act appears tied to domestic unhappiness.

Main Street paving advances. public access Monday

Two blocks of Main Street that were paved were sanded and rolled this afternoon and will be open to the public on Monday morning. The contract completion is expected next week amid resident complaints about excluding the Perry street block. Mr. H. Edwards informs that his railroad car track patent was granted, adding to five patents. He plans to seek capitalists to manufacture and market his inventions, aiming to boost industry in the town without overselling Galena.
