Lowden Narrowly Trails in Jo Daviess Yates Wins by Forty
Jo Daviess county held its first primary with Lowden carrying six of eleven delegates but losing the county by forty votes to Yates. Yates swept the senate district, carrying Stockton heavily, while Cullom led in West Galena. Democratic ballots were light with Caroline Grote receiving 102 votes. Pattison won all county delegates for the legislature.

Rain Floods Rise in Galenia River and Streets
Rain fell for over three hours flooding streets including Franklin street while the Gale nia river rose several feet above low water mark. Rural districts report light damage and beneficial crop impact as creeks run high and more water approaches from points north along the river.
