Local store promotes a month long sale with large stock and low prices across departments. Wallpaper lace curtains baby carriages glassware groceries carpets window shades sewing machines and more are offered at deep discounts with emphasis on up to half price items and no middleman pricing.
Anxiety grips Moline and Rock Island as Colonel Kittilsen weighs whether to muster out Company H and reassign or recruit a new unit based on Monmouth inspections. Major Getty and Lt Campbell found the squad undersized and recommended mustering out, prompting Adjutant General Scott to act.
A miscellany of local notices includes a saloon premises for rent after May 1 1905, a call to attend a banquet board meeting at Mrs J L Sanders home, and lost pay envelope with reward. Also ads for Hollister's Rocky Mountain Tea 35 cents, reminders to report carrier negligence, and reports on local events like the Grant birthday celebration souvenirs and a moving picture show at Turner Hall. The town notes a new cigar box manufacturing venture by American Cigar Box Manufacturing Company with TH J Toepel as president and partners, plus construction for a residence in East Dubuque and planned expansion at Toepel's building.
William Southcote and James Virtue visit Galena while several residents from Hazel Green Stockton Seales Mound New Diggings and Ackley appear in city on various business and social calls. A wedding license is issued for T M Peacock and Alice Anderson, and a new court house flag arriving.
Warren elected J A Brooks as mayor and a mixed slate for aldermen. License ticket won by seven to one with 412 total votes. Apple River voters supported the license and chose Por Village president Lamont and trustees Williams, Newton, Powis, Seales. Elizaveth and Freeport also reported mayor and license outcomes with a city council canvass planned this evening.
Voters backed Charles Scheerer on a full Democratic ticket except for City Treasurer and three aldermen. The day featured bands, parades, and celebratory crowds, with Scheerer delivering a brief speech at Turner Hall. Dillon praised the results and forecast prosperity for Galena.
