Silk Robbery at Freeport Dry Goods Store
The Freeport Journal reports a bold late weekend theft at E. A. Blust’s Galena street dry goods shop in Freeport. Thieves stole seventy nine pieces of silk and emptied the store safe. The crime remained hidden until Sunday afternoon when clerks opened the shop. Curtains guarding silk shelves were moved and the adjacent safe tampered with.
