Transcontinental mail leaves Chicago at 10 P.M. over the Northwestern. The 205 mile Clinton to Boone run this morning took 189 minutes, claimed the fastest Northwest run. Four mail cars left Clinton at 1:12 A.M. twenty three minutes late. Clinton to Otis 77 miles in 68 minutes. Otis to Belle Plain 116 miles faster. Last 86 miles took 80 minutes and Boone was reached on schedule.

A man burned to an unrecognizable mass in a Green Island Bellevue freight car is believed to be Michael Quigley age 25 of Bellevue. He boarded a southbound train Wednesday with a plan to go to Davenport and lit a fire in the car. He left with liquor and dice and a collar spring found with the remains. A northbound conductor sighted a man in a burning car whose description matched Quigley. He is a son of Mrs. Mary Quigley of Bellevue.
