Memoir of Samantha Matilda Yates Sherwood
Samantha Matilda Yates Sherwood was a devoted mother and community figure, widow of James H. Sherwood, long-time Wauseon resident and editor of the Fulton County Republican. Survived by six children and eleven grandchildren, she spent over 55 years in Wauseon, was a charter member and longtime officer of the Woman's Relief Corps, and active in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and YWCA work. Her life bridged faith and service, with prayers for Heaven and a note of calm as she faced old age and death. Her funeral was to be held at 2:30 PM Monday at the Clinton Street home, with a township-wide program and speakers aligned to honor her memory.
