Wauseon Council Approves Beech Street Work and Appoints Auditor
Last Monday night the Wauseon council filled a vacancy by appointing W A Hill to the remainder of the term after G E Howe moved away. An ordinance on Beech street improvement was prefiled and passed under suspension. A detailed six month fund appropriation followed, covering salaries, contingencies, and various department expenses. The usual claim ordinance was approved and council adjourned. The week’s Marine Corps recruiting report explains many rejections from 192 applications due to underage, underweight, vision or hearing defects, flat feet, or overall unsuitability. About 12 percent of applications are accepted nationwide.

A Toledo and Indiana Railway rear-end collision east of Stryker killed two young people, injured seven seriously, and left many others bruised or maimed. Hazel Balsby and Alva Coy died.
