Washington's Birthday observed with soldier and civilian participation in Wauseon and Delta events. Delta schools presented entertainment, funds directed to monument fund. Monumental Association trustees convened. women volunteers raised subscriptions. Programs included marches, talks, and music by G A R members and families. Proceeds total about 55 dollars for the monument fund.
The Agricultural Commission of Ohio adopts New Quarantine Order No. 19 effective February 16 1915 due to foot and mouth disease in several counties. It bars movement of cattle sheep swine and related materials into within or from the quarantined areas including large parts of Hamilton Lorain Medina Erie Huron Ashland and more. It also restricts interstate shipments from Illinois except via East St. Louis National Stock Yards under strict seals and immediate slaughter rules.
Newcomers are urged to feel at home in the county this winter. Citizens are asked to introduce themselves, share local blessings, and demonstrate a friendly atmosphere. A social welcome aims to ease adjustment for strangers and portray the community as hospitable and sociable. Jefferson County Nebraska farmers report no horse sales for war purposes. A Fairbury dispatch notes they reject offers, saying horses are vital for cavalry and artillery in Europe. They acknowledge some animals exist but are deemed too valuable to sell, fearing battlefield losses.
