Comrades Celebrate Wy Sherer Birthday and Post Anecdotes

Members of the Women's Relief Corps and Lozure Post G A R marked the seventy third birthday of Comrade Wy Sherer with a home visit and a banquet. The event featured a musical program by Mrs Gor and recitations by Mrs Wright, plus a gold headed cane presentation by F E Kenyon. Comrade C M Spring received a similar tribute Monday evening at his home.

Christmas Savings Club Checks Issued by Peoples State Bank

The Peoples State Bank issued Christmas Savings Club checks to 1914 members, each embossed in festive colors and given for use during the holiday season. Annual meeting reports show society debt cleared

Pulios County Agricultural Society reports debt paid and treasury balanced. Five board members and officers elected. Announcement notes large attendance at fair, many attendees were women and children, with about two hundred present at the meeting and around sixteen thousand to be entertained at the fair. Secretary E P Ames invites members to attend at 10:00 a m and praises retiring members.

Barney Oldfield Claims Second in Corona Road Race World Record

Former Watsoon man Barney Oldfield driving a Maxwell won second place in the Corona road race after officials corrected a scoring error involving O Donnell. Oldfield set speed marks for the 301 mile course by not stopping at pits, averaging about 55.95 mph. Pullen won with a Mercer, O Donnell was third in a Dusenberg, with DePalma in a Mercedes close behind.

Premiums for corn boys at Ohio Grain Show
