Spanish War Veterans Gather for Social in Napoleon

Spanish American War Veterans and their wives from Wauseon meet in Napoleon on Wednesday November 20 for a pot luck supper at W. A. Ritter’s home. Ritter, a Napolean postmaster aspirant, is praised for World War I work with the League of American Patriots and American Protective League, and for service in Cuba, the Philippines, and four years on the Panama Canal. Comrades note his commendations by Taft and generals.

Monthly Weather Observation Report

The report notes November’s coldest day on the 6th at 6 degrees above zero and warmest on the 1st and 11th at 3 degrees. Precipitation ranged from zero to 0.83 inches with thin snow on the 8th 10th 11th 13th and 14th and 1 inch of snow on the 12th. Heavy frost occurred on the 3rd and 25th. Thunder without lightning on the 20th. Winds generally north to southeast. There were 22 cloudy, 6 partly cloudy and 2 clear days in the month. W A Showslter, Cooperative Observer.

Water Works Plant Nearing Full Operation At Wauseon

The new water works reservoir nears completion with current output about 5200 gallons per minute and a 70 million gallon capacity. Pumps powered by four motors totaling 72 HP, plus two 10 HP motors, will push water to the filtering pit and settling tanks, with a chemical treatment and sand filtration system. The plant, built by Falls and Berkebile, should be ready by December 14, delivering improved water supply and significant fuel savings, under Superintendent Lew Seidner.

Missionary and Stewardship Rally in Wauseon Opens Thursday

Ab Unison Laured Bert Wilson of the United Christian Missionary Society and Mrs Manley Morton, Paraguay pioneer, will headline a rally for all Fulton County Churches of Christ. Events run 10 2 014 am Thursday with 1 40 pm and 7 00 pm sessions, a pot luck in the church basement, stereoptican lectures at night. All are invited to attend this educational event.

Civic League to meet on Unemployment and Christmas aid

A Civic League meeting is planned for next Monday at 7 30 PM in the Linary. The agenda centers on the unemployment situation in Wauseon and to discuss how to ensure every child has a Merry Christmas. West Elm Street improvement plan approved by council

The council, led by Mayor Oakley, approves West Elm Street plans from the corporation line to Fulton Street widening to 48 feet with 16 feet for parking and notes state aid for construction. It discusses reinforced concrete versus water bound bases, cost estimates around 32 700 to 35 300 dollars, and the need to use existing material, with a plan to apply for state funding and county action.
