Fulton County Boys Chosen for Ohio State Fair Trip

Yearly Meeting of Fulton County Churches of Christ

Joseph Shadle Centenary Memorial Meeting Recalls Venerable Pioneers

A August 16 1915 memorial gathering at the old Shadle homestead in Dover township honors Joseph Shadle born in Lebanon County Pennsylvania one hundred years earlier. Letters from relatives in Wells County Indiana and Bellaire Michigan are read as the family recounts his life from a boy with an ax and gun to farmer brickmaker and builder of a 160 acre homestead. The narrative covers his marriage to Jane Burk in 1833 and his ten children. it notes his brick yard and courthouse brickwork in Ottokee and his lasting impact on the family’s fortunes. The memoir ends noting Civil War era labor and the family legacy building.

Holstein Picnic Despite Rain at Burr Farm in Fulton County

Nearly one hundred Holstein breeders and friends gathered at Burr Farm despite heavy rain. The Wauseona Herd topped the day with ninety eight head, thirty two in milking age, each with official milk and butter records displayed above the stanchions. Hon. D D Aitken urged farm efficiency and promoting dairy products, suggesting a self tax to fund a publicity drive to educate consumers on milk and cheese value.
