The Trapper's Daughter A Western Sketch

A first person reminiscence recounts a trek from St Louis toward Fort Laramie with two Voyageurs. Plans to trap and seize a Pawnee wife unfold as danger and deception loom. Janet Willet, the trapper's daughter, captivates the narrator who confronts Vanburton and Nick, rescues Janet, and marries her after thwarting the criminals. The tale closes with the narrator grateful for a virtuous outcome and the trapper hoping to confront Nick.
