Preacher urged abolition of slavery and wage justice

The Rev. Cheever preached last evening on Northern strikes and Southern slavery as a divine bill for unpaid wages. He argued Christ none could be slaveholder, denounced extortion and slavery as sin, and urged emancipation with wages. The sermon contrasted biblical justice with proslavery defense and called for breaking the wall between capital and labor.
