Thames iron steamship the wonders of nineteenth century
The enormous iron steamslip under construction on the Thames measures 684 feet long and 86 feet broad with 121 foot wheel diameter and 70 foot hold depth. It will carry 20 000 people and 16 000 troops if used as a transport, with 750 to 800 crew and 12 chief officers, aiming for 16 miles per hour. Also reported, Windsor tax collector seizes two passenger cars and one freight car from the G W Railway for overdue taxes totaling over $2 000.
