Major fire devastates Front street in Tyler Block lose

At about 2 am on Wednesday a large fire tore through the south end of Front street known as the Tyler Block. In an hour the blaze destroyed the wooden buildings owned by J. S. Tyler and others, with losses estimated at least ten thousand dollars. Occupants included Wm. K. Bartlett’s store and tin shop, Auer grocer, Magoo barber shop, Mrs. Wm. Cady millinery, and many others. several insured properties faced ruin. Firemen performed valiantly, and residents mourn the scale of disruption to business districts. The disaster likely arson is suspected. Declares concern over rebuilding and council aid.
