Tiffin’s Early Growth and notable landmarks
A historical sketch recounts how Mr. Hodges purchased land in 1820 in the Tiffin area, witnessed by paths worn around the site. He built the first frame house, the Old Masonic Hall, a flour mill on the Sandusky river, and a saw mill on Rocky Creek. His land sales and strategic moves shifted the county seat to the east and spurred rapid growth and wealth, with Hodges later engaging in politics and land relocation.
