A Mass State Bolters convention at City Hall drew fifty to seventy five attendees. Irad Kelley chaired after Ware of Cincinnati moved for Kelley. Committees were named, session adjourned to 2 pm, and the event was deemed a political abortion by the Columbus Journal with limited influence and turnout. Ex governor Allen Trimble nominated for governor by telegraph. Cleveland Herald notes resistance to pro-slavery forces in Ohio.
The notice alleges that Mr. Dawson, newly appointed Governor of Kansae, is in the Lake Superior region, implying the appointment may be delayed or overridden. It suggests Secretary Woodson could act as Governor to aid Missouri factions, calling the move a dishonest administration dodge.
