The text records proposed amendments to Illinois law changing election day to the first Tuesday of April for cities containing towns and detailing ballot-box provisions, polling place duties, and posting requirements, with emergency clause and jurisdictional notes for towns inside cities and county clerk oversight.

Appointment of town election judges and town meeting procedures

The act specifies appointing three judges of election per precinct, possibly the same as city officer elections, with two clerks per precinct. They must take the oath, keep separate ballots and poll-list, and canvass votes for town officers separately. Within forty-eight hours, seal and transmit results to the town clerk. The Supervisor, Assessor, and Collector will canvass within five days and declare the result. Town meetings may be held at 2 PM on election day with a Moderator elected and Town Clerk recording proceedings. The act takes effect after passage due to an emergency for April 1877 elections.
