Witty anecdotes and jokes from civic life and theater society

A collection of humorous vignettes and conversations including mismatched ages, garbled math banter, a theatre crowd quip about a dancer, a bookbinder joke at a wedding, a German expressman with smallpox, a rousing Arkansas reel, a velvet mantilla policy, a burlesque gift to a Chelsea shoe dealer, a rural deacon’s surprising valise, a funeral clock quip, a shy suitor’s engagement, and Dr Franklin on wives from many daughters improving each other.
