The January issue of The Childrens' Hour, a popular juvenile, arrives as a special holiday edition. It includes eight extra pages of reading material and high praise for the writers artists engravers and printers who contributed to delight young readers. If any parent is too penurious to subscribe for $1.25 to T. S. Arthur & Son Philadelphia for a year the editors would like to know the name.
On Christmas Eve Rev Wm Dixon of Lena was presented a purse of $42 and other gifts by nearby friends. The article notes a shift away from tailor made boots to mass stock, praising low prices and satisfaction at the McNamara firm, J and J H McNamara, as proof of broad availability.

A Masonic installation occurred Friday evening with Hon. J. M. Bailey of this city serving as installing officer at Forreston. The event was described as a most interesting and pleasant gathering.
