Death of Orville L. Grant Brother of General Grant
Orville L. Grant, brother of Gen A S Grant, died August 5 at the Norristown Asylum in New Jersey from softening of the brain. A native of Ohio, he lived in Galena as a leather and saddlery clerk and later partner Grant & Perkins. After selling out circa 1866 he moved to Chicago where the Great Fire ruined his stock. Mental illness worsened, with two visits to Norristown asylum. He leaves a wife and three children.
