On Monday August 6 in Freeport Stephenson County Illinois voters in the First and Second Districts will elect one Circuit Court Judge for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. Mayor Jacob Kroun proclaims a special election on August 25 1877 in Freeport Illinois to decide issuing thirteen thousand one hundred dollars in city bonds at not more than eight percent interest to redeem bonds due September 4 next ten years. Voters may cast for issuing bonds or against issuing bonds.
West Point and surrounding townships sign a pledge urging J E Puies to stand as county superintendent candidate. Dated Lena July 11 1877 the reply expresses humility and commitment to elevate teaching standards and improve county schools.
The Tornado Bus warns business readers that the service begins on Stephenson Street at noon and six each day. It will also run to any part of the city during the remaining daylight hours.
An 19th century medical advertisement claims Dr Fenner's Blood and Liver Remedy and Nerve Tonic cures biliousness, bad breath, headaches, dyspepsia, deranged stomach and bowels, jaundice, nervousness, scrofula, sleeplessness, skin diseases, pimples, and worms. It purports to purify blood, cleanse the alimentary canal, strengthen the stomach, nervous system, heart, lungs, kidneys and all tissues, improve appetite and vitality, and be pleasant to take. Manufactured by Dr M M Fenner of Fredonia New York, sold in Freeport Illinois by Emmert & Burrell as wholesale agents.

It claims rapid, smooth performance, modern improvements, easy handling, durability, and constant readiness. A. Cately & Co. offer broad territory coverage from New York at Broadway and Eighth Street.
The message endorses W. W. Robey opposite Knowlton's bank as the best source for teas coffees sugars syrups canned fruits and all grocery needs. It promises pure goods low prices and home delivery, urging readers to buy from Robey.
Cheap John John R. Wagner agent opposite the Brewster House promotes the lowest prices with the best goods. He is a long time grocer in the city and offers the largest stock at astonishing low prices. Call at his store to be convinced.
