Sequel of a Tyre Springs massacre reveals a hunter turned target
The piece recounts Joseph B. Thurber of Laporte Indiana who survived a 1865 Tyre Springs foray where five captors murdered three of six prisoners. Thurber later encountered one killer in Holmesville while employed by Graham & Murry. Thurber, recognizing the attacker, planned to kill him, but sought his father’s counsel leading to an affidavit and arrest by Deputy Sheriff Clay on a recent Saturday.
