At the Dixon reunion in Illinois the Seventy-fifth Illinois elected officers from Morrison including President L. B. Matthews and Secretary W. Lane. The Thirty-fourth Infantry chose John Gantz as president with Edward Payne and others. Seventeen attended Battery F. next meeting set for Morrison with officers all from Morrison.
Streator Illinois September 21 Congressman Walter Reeves decided to enter the GOP race for governor after a conference at the Plumb house with Republican leaders from Illinois eleventh district who currently send Reeves to Congress the decision follows a broad party consultative meeting today
A wreck at 1 am half a mile south of Rutland on the Illinois Central derailed eight cars of a special freight banana train due north. Brakeman Baker, from near Hayworth, was killed. Clinton wrecking crews cleared debris by 10 am. The southbound passenger train was delayed three hours, detoured via Chicago and Alton and Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe. Conductor Neyman and Engineer Fischer led the derailed train's operation.
Henry Williams of Oak street died at 1 AM from consumption and related illness at 62. He leaves wife deceased, two sons Arthur and John, two daughters Mrs Ed Richards of Winslow and Mrs Martin of Damascus, plus three brothers Orrin Tama Iowa Edgar Racine and Eugene Polo. Funeral plans not set. Henricus Kirchhefer died last night at St Josephs hospital Fort Wayne Indiana at age 24 from typhoid fever. He leaves parents four brothers Rev R Kirchhefer Baxer Indiana, Weert Tilden Nebraska Henry and Herman Waterman Illinois, and two sisters Mrs Chas Botsford and Anna. Remains to arrive 3:35 AM tomorrow. funeral Sunday 2 PM at home and 2:30 PM at German Reformed Church, Rev Rech officiating, Alfred Freud in charge.
A large Freeport camp M W A meeting last night initiated twenty new members. An elegant banquet followed served by the Troy restaurant. Speakers included F. Chas Donahue Rev Dr J McCaughtry Wm Issenhuth Dr Peck and Ald Louis Bauscher.
Charley Bohn was arrested last Saturday for jumping on moving trains at the depot. Before Police Magistrate Rose he received a $5.00 fine plus costs. A barn on Mrs. Benj Rowland’s farm near Polo burned at 2 am Saturday, destroying hay grain and eight horses. Samuel Artz, a farm resident, suffered the loss. On Friday Mrs. Ezra Stoner and Lizzie from Cross Roads delivered dinners to threshers two miles away when the horse bolted, scattering plates and food as a man in the wagon narrowly escaped scalding from hot coffee by leaping into a creek.
H R C will meet with Miss Dana tonight. Smith D Atkins camp Sons of Veterans holds regular session this evening. Embury Epworth league hosts a novel measuring social next Tuesday evening. Baptist church BYPA social proceeds despite threatening weather with refreshments and a welcoming program for strangers.
A local ad offers 45¢ value soap for 25¢ with Ivory laundry and Ivory toilet bars. Six Lenox bars sell 25¢ at J H MacCrea & Co and a line of Boys' Knee Pants samples also 25¢ at the Goldem Eagle window display.

The Ladies Mandolin Club of Chicago is in demand and will play at a church entertainment next Wednesday at Chambers Grove. Joseph Kerner of Milwaukee, VP of Wilbur Lumber, visited Freeport manager W M Sanford. The Royal Neighbors announce a social and dance at Woodmen Hall on Wednesday Sept 27, admission 15 cents.
K. D. Button, an I. C, R, R. civil engineer, who has been in the area for months, is summoned to Chicago to be assigned in Iowa. He will survey the long-talked of line between Lyle and Albert Lea, linking the Illinois Central with the M. & St. L.
Thos. Crow, an employee at the Florence creamery, damaged the middle finger of his right hand on a cog wheel yesterday. Dr. Fair amputated the finger last night.
Albert Kohl of Damascus is bound over to the grand jury in bonds of 500 dollars for allegedly stealing 60 dollars from Jacob Kraft of Damascus and a watch chain from I. E. Schoch of the same town.
Henry Marks of Lanark will relocate to Freeport next week to take a job with the large poultry firm J W Miller and Co.
Harvey Daughenbaugh of three miles east of town was kicked in the left leg this morning while at his residence. He was treated locally for injuries and is reported in stable condition.
A W aerhguph sells a house on a lot to W Fungkunz for 3376 dollars. The transfer records a private real estate deal with the buyers and seller named and the price specified.
In a New Zealand incident the Rakali rail smash led to about sixty excursionists leaving their carriages to drink at a nearby railway hotel. The night was cold and wet as the crowd gathered, and while they were inside the hotel the train disaster occurred, leaving the rear carriages burned and reduced to matchwood.
Mrs Boana's millinery shop reports a disruption as a group seeks unidentified vials. Police inquiries underway. No injuries reported. Local authorities urge calm and cooperation.
