Attempted murder targets ex APA president in Kansas City

Special from Kansas City Missouri September 12 ex state president J A Dearborn of the American Protective Association was found unconscious in a rear yard on East Ninth Street at 5 AM after being struck in the eye and stabbed three times near the heart. The attack occurred about 11 PM the prior night with an unknown assailant. Officials fear exposure may worsen his condition though wounds are not believed fatal. A P A members are agitated and hint at assassination attempt.

Louisvillle Kentucky on September 12 reports Chairman W D Bynum arriving from Indianapolis with 200 in his party. He says no letter from Cleveland yet and that it would be unsafe to claim no speech tonight. General Palmer may have a message from Cleveland and would not commit to a program or speeches for now.

In New York on September 12 Fitzsimmons refused to meet Corbett at the Police Gazelle office to sign articles for a fight. Corbett waited ready to sign. After arbitration they agreed to reconvene at the Bartholdi hotel this afternoon.

The fifty seventh annual session of the Rook River Conference will convene at Embury M E Church in Freeport with about three hundred ministers and numerous lay members.
