A noisy sale lists Black Novelty Dress Goods 40 inches wide at up to 60c, Storm Surge 46 inches wool at 80c yard, Velvets 1000 yards at 60c, Chintz and novelty fabrics, plus discounted blankets, quilts, belts, buttons, handkerchiefs, linens, and a vast assortment of cloaks and capes.
Listing numerous household items with deep discounts including 14 quart galvanized pails at 10c, tea steepers and egg beaters at 1c each, copper bottom tea kettles at 25c, best granite pudding pans and wash basins, hatchets at 20c, liped sauce pans, coffee pots, and assorted kitchenware, all emphasized as low prices and value.
A Freeport store advertises a two day sale on flour corn meal and cereals with Jersey Dream White Satin and Graham flour priced well below market. Swain Earl's coffee Dake's wafers and crackers offered cheap, canned sardines pepper and mustard priced low, with spices and vinegars half to two thirds regular. Sale runs Saturday and Monday, urging shoppers to trade locally.
Special from Kansas City Missouri September 12 ex state president J A Dearborn of the American Protective Association was found unconscious in a rear yard on East Ninth Street at 5 AM after being struck in the eye and stabbed three times near the heart. The attack occurred about 11 PM the prior night with an unknown assailant. Officials fear exposure may worsen his condition though wounds are not believed fatal. A P A members are agitated and hint at assassination attempt.
Philadelphia Sept 12 Special reports William F Harrity will retire from the Democratic National committee within weeks. He cites disgust with party management and platform rather than the marginal Harrisburg convention outcome that spared him compulsory retirement.
Illinois forecast calls for partly cloudy skies tonight and Sunday with fresh northeast winds. Temperatures not specified. conditions remain unsettled across the state.
Louisvillle Kentucky on September 12 reports Chairman W D Bynum arriving from Indianapolis with 200 in his party. He says no letter from Cleveland yet and that it would be unsafe to claim no speech tonight. General Palmer may have a message from Cleveland and would not commit to a program or speeches for now.
In New York on September 12 Fitzsimmons refused to meet Corbett at the Police Gazelle office to sign articles for a fight. Corbett waited ready to sign. After arbitration they agreed to reconvene at the Bartholdi hotel this afternoon.
