A large male crowd at Franklin's monument night in Park Row attempted to tear down a red flag banner bearing W R Hearst's name. They rushed toward City Hall shouting insults to McClellen, gained control of steps and main corridor for about fifteen minutes before police dispersed the gathering.
Constantinople notes a sudden halt to Ghirkis Vartanian execution after a note from the American legation warned that carrying out the death sentence would trigger serious consequences. Vartanian, alleged to have killed a prominent Armenian, holds American citizenship.
President Roosevelt arrived at the navy yards aboard the Dolphin at noon. A 21-gun salute greeted him on arrival and another salute marked his departure. Mrs. Jonsevelt welcomed the president aboard for the visit on October 31.
Roosevelt has appointed tilings of Boston to take effect November 1. Mr stillings is named manager of the printer's board of trade in New York City. Mashinetod October 31 special report indicates a presidential action.

The will of the late James Netherton has been probated in county court. It leaves $500 to each child and $512 to his wife, with all remaining property to the wife. Upon the wife’s death the residue is to be divided equally among the children. Lucida Netherton and son James Netherton Jr. are named executors.
James Malone, held to the grand jury on the charge of short-changing a merchant at Ger man Valley, is out on bail. His father raised $500 in cash deposited at the State bank, and partner H. H. Antrim signed the bond.
Trainmaster Caldwell examined four firemen for engineer positions. The candidates examined were W. G. Ford EH C. Schroever J. A. Janssen and James Hughes. All stood the test satisfactorily.
The jury in the case of John H Place versus Dr. John Hays disagreed in the trial before Justice Vincent. The matter is transferred to Justice Marvin with a hearing scheduled for November 10 at 8 o'clock.
A change of venue moved the case of Nick Welsh from the police court to Justice Witte. Welsh faces charges of beating his wife as the trial was called at 3 o clock this afternoon.

Freeport Aerie of Eagles received handsome black red and gold posters to advertise the Oberammergau production under their auspices at the Grand Opera house next Sunday afternoon and evening. Ellsworth, sole American to view the performers, will attend November 5, with the production endorsed by the performers and villagers. The event is expected to draw a crowded audience.
Rockford high school varsity prepares for November 8 football clash with Ereepart at Freeport. Freeport unbeaten this year, Rockford 1 loss team. over a hundred fans to ride a chartered special car leaving at 2 pm, arriving near Taylor's Park by game time after fast trip from Rockford.
