Poisoner Rev Morrison Hanged for Wife's Murder in 1897
Dallas Texas Oct 27 Special Rev G E Morrison was hanged at noon today for the murder of his wife in October 1897. On the scaffold he declared his innocence. He planned to poison his wife to marry Miss Anna Whittlesy, a wealthy woman from Carbondale Illinois who was the main witness against him.

Striking Coal Miners Fight at Decatur Shaft
In Decatur Illinois on October 27 a clash occurred at a coal shaft when four non union workers arrived. Strikers tried to deter them and a fight ensued in which Marion Mays a non union worker shot two strikers, one likely fatally. In Serine Vattey Illinois later the same day the coal miners strike ended with the company granting most demands.

New York Oct 27 Special Brigadier General Guy V Henry late military governor of Porto Rico died this morning of pneumonia age 60 His death leaves vacant the command of the department of the Missouri to which he was recently appointed and also creates a vacancy in brigadier general in the regular army
