A fierce Lake Erie storm drove the steamer Sarah E Sheldon ashore four miles east of Lorain. The 13 crew members jumped overboard. two believed drowned. Life-saving crews later rescued the remaining sailors. the vessel is a total wreck.
Last night's storm caused thousands of dollars in damage to harbors and piers along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. At Holland the loss is estimated at 200000 dollars. The schooner Kate Lyons was wrecked off Grand Haven.

A seven member committee will seek a location and report at the Stand lodge in Chicago on the third Tuesday of October 1906. New officers elected include Frank C. Smith as chancellor and Levin D. Gass as vice chancellor among others.
John Vaupel reports James Rogers arrested by Officer Frank Rummelhagen for attempting to steal four pairs of trousers from Vaupel’s Galena Street store. Rogers, seen by clerks, was bound over to the grand jury after a 10 AM hearing before Magistrate Bentley and committed to the county jail on $400 bond pending trial.
Dr. C. L. Snyder was elected vice president of the Northern Illinois Dental Society at a meeting in Elgin. Aurora was chosen as the site for the next meeting. Officers for the year include President Frank Cheeseman of Chicago, Vice President C. I. Snyder of Freport, Secretary A. M. Harrison of Rockford, Treasurer H. G. Logan of Aurora, Executive Committee M. I. Hansford of Rockford, and Superintendent of Clinics C. W. Robison of Aurora.
Frank Meyers a bricklayer was arrested this morning at the corner of Galena and Mechanic streets for being drunk by Officer Keagel.
Three women arrested late last evening for selling liquor in disorderly places were brought before Magistrate Bentley for a hearing. Each woman was fined $50 plus costs totaling $54.35.
John Schmitt was arrested on a complaint by Henry Pfeifer who accuses him of threats. The case goes before Magistrate Bentley later today with an effort to place Schmitt under peace bonds.
