Boston Oct 7 Special The Democratic state convention nominated a full state ticket and adopted a platform urging free listing of coal iron rubber hides wool pulp to revive industries without disturbing business. It commends President Roosevelt for peace and backs gradual municipal ownership while opposing federal supervision of insurance. General Charles W Bartlett of Boston chosen for governor.
A major blaze in New York on October 7 left two city blocks burned and over fifteen businesses destroyed. Hundreds of tenement residents were driven from their homes while a fireman was injured and a watchman burned. About 250 frightened horses roamed crowded streets for more than an hour as flames threatened a large stretch of the upper east side waterfront. Loss estimated at $100,000.
In Middletown New York a triple murder was disclosed as Willis Olney and Fred Olney were found shot in the woods near their home and Alice Ingerick’s body was found there. Mrs Georgia Ingerick, Alice’s mother, lay unconscious in a barn and is dying from a fractured skull. The Olney brothers’ clothing pockets were turned inside out.
Washington reports the comptroller of currency received a telegram announcing the Peoria National bank closed its doors by order of the directors. In Peoria Illinois a run at the Dime Savings bank, in which Dougherty once headed the schools, was small but all deposits were paid.

Robbers blew open the strong box at the Chagrin Falls postoffice early today and escaped. Investigation shows the burglars secured only a small sum.
Mrs. N. D. Villars visits Polo friends while R P Eckert transacts business at Lena. Numerous residents from Lena Winslow Stockton and other towns visit or return from fairs, Chicago, Cleveland, Port land and Rockford as conferences and district events unfold.
The fourth day of the conference opened amid rumors of slated appointments and detaching pastors seeking pulpits. Dr. Cobern may transfer east to ease tensions while temperance attacks targeted Freeport saloons led by E L Eaton. Debate on superannuates, admissions from other denominations, and Rockefeller references dominated, with Bishop Wilson presiding and a Faust lecture announced for the evening.
Rev J P Brushingham of First M E Church Chicago will speak at the Y M C A men’s meeting tomorrow afternoon at 3 30. He is regarded as a brainy leader in Rock River conference and a large audience is expected.
Rev Dr Claude Moore of Sycamore Illinois with a 100 member Men s Bible class will head the Baraca class at noon. Rev Dr Lewis Gurts from California will preach in the evening at the English Lutheran church in tomorrow s services.
