Geo Byers returned from St Francis hospital. Joe Cheeseman and family plan to settle back in the area. teachers and residents attended meetings and visits in Mt Carroll Lanark Savanna and Pearl City with several stopovers and travels noted.

Keagle were held in the United Evangelical church Friday morning conducted by Rev Hedges. The remains were laid to rest in the Carnefin cemetery. Mrs Ti Bokhof was a passenger to Durand Tuesday. Miss Elta Bokhof spent Sunday at Durand.

Prohibition National Committeemen blasted fusion with other factions during a Chicago assembly at the Auditorium hotel. The party elected Charles R. Jones as national chairman and chose Columbus, Ohio, as next year’s convention site amid sharp protests from anti fusion factions led by J M Templeton and Frances Beauchamp. The convention will open the first week of July with 1,480 delegates, and Jones predicted a strong temperance ticket led by a non incumbent. Possible presidential candidates named include Folk, Hanly, and Hoke Smith.
Ville residents exchanged visits with Mrs. J Wise and family on Sunday. D Strutz of Pecatonica and H Deery with Charles Mellnick of Freeport stopped by. George Maurer of Freeport called on friends. Miss Ella Mitchell of Winnesheik passed through. A reception at Ridott honored Rev and Mrs Frye drew many locals. Florence Bokemeter hosted friends at dinner Sunday. Mrs Wise visited the county seat Monday.
In Ridott on Thursday Rev. Webb married Mr. Boyer and Mrs. Duck. The couple won best wishes from many friends. Mr. Heilman and Miss Susie Heilman visited friends at Davis and Rock City. Clarence Roykouff and Miss Mary Kurtz called on friends in Freeport. A reception for Rev. Fry and family drew a large crowd Tuesday evening. H. C. Mund family spent Sunday in Berlin. Rev. Fry and wife hosted relatives from Freeport. Miss Mamie Cotherman of Berlin visited home over the weekend. Mrs. Wm. Rote and daughter of Dakota called on Mrs. James Gibler. Mrs. Harold Arnt and children of Freeport visited Mrs. Helen Kruckenberg. Mr. and Mrs. Strauss and kids from Chicago visited Mrs. Young. Charles Kruckenberg and family spent Sunday in Freeport.

Rev Mr Wood preached farewell at Damascus. Peter McGurk and wife from Greenvale visited Sullivan residence last week. Miss Bertha Rosenstiel leaves for Faribault Minnesota to visit brother Lee and family for months. I S Sehoch wife and daughter visited Rock City last week. Frank Harris and family visited Lena Sunday. Mabel Wagner visited Lena Friday. Edward Sullivan and his aunt Miss Kennedy were callers at Lena last week.
Beloit Wisconsin November 20 a string of hotel thefts at the Hilton culminated in bellboy H I Clark being arrested after confessing to Chief of Police Scheibel. Stolen items included a 32 caliber revolver two sapphire set pins gloves a compass and scissors. The sapphire pin valued at about twenty dollars belonged to J R Morrison division superintendent of C M St P and was Morrison's complaint that led to the arrest. Stolen goods were found in the head waiter's trunk who aided Clark in storing items. Clark 19 years old has been at the hotel briefly. His hearing is set for tomorrow morning.
Beloit Wisconsin November 19 Fire Chief Goss reprimanded with sentence withheld. Assistant Chief Eli H Hunter reduced to captain and transferred. Driver Butler dismissed from Central station. Infraction charged for visiting saloons and other rule violations. Goss and Hunter long time department members.
Washington reports the thirty-sixth international convention of the Young Men's Christian Associations convening at K A R continental hall with Aly R Sarasin Warnery of Geneva calling the meeting to order. Delegates from the United States and Canada Great Britain France Russia Japan China India Australia and several American nations attend. Noted speakers include Ambassador James Bryce Governor K B Glenn Dr Robert Johnson Dr Charles H Parkhurst Bishop C H Brent and Dr Floyd W Tompkins.

A G Kraft born November 4, 1864 near Fairbank Iowa died unexpectedly at age 40 in Oelwein after a career as a contractor and builder. He married Mary Geiser September 12 1886 and they had six children Alma Carlton Ethel Mary and John with daughter Vera predeceasing. Survived by wife five children his parents and three brothers. Service from home Wednesday at 1 pm and church at 1 30 pm with Kraft a longtime Christian deacon and former city council member.
A Yakima paper notes Mrs. W L Wright, formerly of Stephenson county, reports a heavy yield at her Narches valley ranch. Over 6 500 boxes of apples picked with 1 000 more expected, averaging near 2 per box and about 12 000 dollars from six acres. Peach yield good on two acres, ten acres alfalfa adds income. After harvest, Mr and Mrs Wright plan a winter trip to California.
In Springfield November 24 the joint conference committee announced agreement on the primary election bill. They will drop provisions for the election of delegates and presidential electors from the Oglesby bill, with other provisions kept. The subcommittee will meet tomorrow to finalize changes including possible cumulative voting and nonpartisan municipal voting. War among Republicans in St Clary County pits Judge Trayves against Rodenberg for the 22nd district seat. Odd Fellows in Springfield elected officers with Sayter as grand wardens and others re-elected.
At an Anti Saloon League session in St Louis it was decided the state league will organize all eighty five wet counties for local option and then have counties organize townships. Cook county was deemed a waste of money to contest now. Rev J Harmon of First M E Church said East St Louis was a shad while the league aims to win there. Efforts will target St Clair and Macon counties next spring as hopeless for the dry cause. Local option to be vetoed in every precinct outside Cook county next spring.
Baseball figures swirl as Bugs Raymond of the St Louis NL team denied death after reports arose Monday night. Police and friends traced a corpse hit by an Elston Avenue car to likely a minor league wintering player, but Raymond’s identity remained unconfirmed.
Perce, the Notre Dame pitcher who led semi pro teams to fade away, has signed with the Denver Western league club and will play there next summer. He declined major league offers to spend one summer in the Western league before joining top pro baseball. Denver teammates who played with Olinger in the Tebeau series recommended him.

At the Great Western station in Lily Lake, a 21 year old night operator, Argen bright, was shot by robbers while guarding the money drawer. They wrested his revolver and shot him twice. He was found alive and taken to Chicago by fast train, but authorities fear fatal injuries.
November 21 in Champaign Woodie Matthews, a Black man, concealed 1084 dollars in a closet at his home. A defective flue ignited a fire in the closet where the money was kept and the bank notes were burned. The cash had been withdrawn from the bank as a precaution after concerns about safety.
Rockford HK Nov 21 The eighth annual state conference of the Masons and Bricklayers union opened here with a banquet for delegates at night.
