Very fine weather favors farmers as they bring out the corn crop though some kernels are soft and risk spoilage. KF Warner installs a new furnace. the W C G MU plans a gathering at Mrs. C E Kyle's home with all invited. Great Western extends track by Italians making a mile long. Florence Sheets plans a winter trip to Pasadena. Roberts and Peck return from Chicago after being excused from the grand jury. Volker sale well attended with good prices.
A condensed community diary from McConnell notes school reopening with Miss Margaret Baldwin of Freeport and various visits, travels, and small incidents. Highlights include Bradley Diveley returning to Goshen Indiana, Dr Addie Soule returning to Kansas City with her mother, numerous calls on friends in Freeport Orangeville and Winslow, a new shoemaker at Ploeger and Keilsmeier, a disastrous fire at Wm Goodrich’s farm with oats and cattle buildings burned, and local social events such as a Tuesday dance with Stockton orchestra. Also mentioned are cattle shipments to Chicago, land swaps near Pierre South Dakota, and several weddings and funeral attendances.
From Pearl City correspondent Al Yeager and his vaudeville company performed at the opera house Friday and Saturday. John Dillon plans to move his family into the Lutheran parsonage for the winter. Studebaker and wife of Keltner were guests at J. W. Dow and Jake Aurand homes Saturday and Sunday, with Orie Dow and Miss Ivy Yeager also mentioned.
