Richard Mansfield, eminent actor, born May 24 1857 on Heligoland, studied East Indian civil service, then art, then theater. He began in England, first U S appearance at Stand ard theatre New York as Cromer in Three Black Cloaks, later star turns including Prince Karl and Beau Brummell. Married to Beatrice Cameron.
