On Elk Street, Mrs. Harrison Brownlee suffered serious facial and limb cuts from a Sunday evening fall, with Dr. Burwell called to treat her.

Railway franchise petition for De Kall county

Sycamore March 18 The Lake Geneva Sycamore and Southern Electric railway asked the De Kall county board for a twenty year franchise to build a single track line four feet eight and a half inches gauge. The ordinance failed 15 to 6. The road already holds a fifty year city franchise and another attempt will be made at a special meeting April 12.

Ejectment Suit Opens After Noon in March Term

In the third week of the March term Judge Baume presided as a new trial motion was argued in the breach of promise case Mrs. Dollmeyer versus Henry Lerche. Another phase, an ejectment suit, followed this afternoon involving property on Galena street. Lerche sold the building to W. H. Lamm, Flor ence township farmer, who seeks Mrs. Dollmeyer’s eviction. Mrs. Dollmeyer is represented by Attorney Issenhuth, with M. Stoskopf for Lamm.

Ice floods Winslow as Pecatonica bursts its banks

High water on the Pecatonica River rises rapidly after ice jams break up. By Tuesday morning floodwater fills McVenn’s harness shop Fritz and Watson’s blacksmith shop Holsinger’s barber shop and Van Matre’s restaurant. The railroad track from the depot to Martintown lies submerged and depots surrounded by water. Traffic hampered. rubber boot sales the only activity amid the surge.

Freeport Woman's Club Meets at YMCA Auditorium

A meeting of the Freeport Woman's club was held in the YMCA auditorium on Saturday afternoon March 18. Lizzie Flanagan read a scholarly paper on the great revolution reviewing the events leading to the greatest of French tragedies. Mrs G I Brown read from the Diamond Necklace by Carlyle and sang the Marseilles hymn with Miss Guiteau providing music, making the event pleasing and effective.
