Manila reorganizes forces as two divisions formed

Manila dispatch reports the American force reorganized into two divisions of three brigades each with Lawton and MacArthur taking command of the first and second divisions. Brigades remain assigned to provost guard duty as an attack on the battery at Loma Church by rebels yesterday was repulsed by the Pennsylvania with heavy losses.

In Buruano Virginia on March 18 special report notes George Dewey Jr of the city has a letter from Admiral Dewey saying he is in good health though somewhat fatigued and hopes the task will be finished soon. Charles Dewey expects his brother to reach Washington by June first.

Battleship Oregon Arrives at Manila in Good Condition

Wasuixatox March 18 Special The navy department has been advised of the arrival of the battleship Oregon at Manila. In a cablegram announcing its arrival Admiral Dewey added that the Oregon is in fit condition for any duty. General Miles has received a dispatch dated Ponce Porto Rico stating that ex-Secretary Sherman was very much better.

Republican Primaries Set for Town Offices Tonight

Republican primaries will select township officers in city wards from 7 to 8 PM. Lancaster Republicans nominate W Winters to succeed James Beezner on the board of supervisors, with a strong ticket including I M Glasser town clerk and others. Democrats nominate Austin Yarger as supervisor and EB D Herbert for town clerk, among other offices.
