Word from the state insurance department says J. W. White of Fulton was elected attorney for the Modern Woodmen of America at a directors’ meeting in Sprinerietp Illinois on June 19. He succeeds J. B. Johnson of Kansas City.
Joshua Springer pioneer resident of Stephenson county died this morning at his grandson Harry McKibben’s home in Florence township after a two month illness. Born May 6, 1807 in Canaan New Hampshire he settled in Rock Run then Freeport before returning to Rock Run and later moving to Florence township in 1865. He married February 17, 1827. wife died years ago. Surviving daughters are Mrs Sophia McKibben of Florence township and Mrs Anna Davis of Fargo North Dakota. Funeral Thursday at 10 from the McKibben home. interment in Freeport city cemetery.
Miss Maggie Carey and Martin Allen are to be married tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock in St Marys church. Sheriff Fox reports the arrest of a man named Miller on a charge of insanity after he endured Johnstown flood trauma and years in an asylum.
The state supreme court ruled against the Danville Water Company once more and the case will be appealed to the United States Supreme Court. The decision maintains the pattern of defeats for the water company as it moves to higher federal review.
This morning H. D. Bentley and Phil Smith rode from Bentley’s home when the horse stumbled and fell. They were thrown from the rig. Smith escaped injury while Bentley suffered bruises. District President Rev J W Funston of Bolton issues a broad circular to Epworth League members urging a strong Illinois and district representation at the fourth international conference in Indianapolis.
