June 7 report states Sampson’s fleet battered the Santiago forts from 8 to 11 o clock, causing major damage. American troops reportedly landed near Daiquiri, east of Aguadores, and engaged Spanish forces on land with American victory. Small cyclone hits Harlem farm in brief storm

Monday afternoon a small cyclone swept through Harlem township. A funnel shaped cloud descended on the McGrath farm and carried off two corn cribs a windmill and a small barn. The damage was limited to those structures with little else harmed.

John W Walker dies in Chicago veteran police officer

John W Walker brother of P R Walker superintendent of Rockford schools died in Chicago yesterday. Formerly of Ogle county he later served as a member of the Chicago police force. During the war he was with the 92nd NL and was well known to many Stevenson county veterans.
