P Cox and Co advertises dry goods with fresh stock and low prices. Freeport residents are urged to visit the store to see bargains and new arrivals, highlighting 25 dollar or 25 dot ladies' waists offered at cost.
A nice assortment of the very popular Rob Roy belt is featured, highlighting style and availability for readers.
Just received a large stock of India linen priced at 8c per yard and up. White, checked and striped fabrics offered cheaply. Night gowns and white shirts advertised at record low prices. Customers urged to inspect entire stock to save money. All goods warranted as represented and sold as advertised.
Several hundred Cleveland women traveled to Canton to pay respects to Major William McKinley. Led by prominent Cleveland ladies, the delegation walked from the station to the McKinleys home where Mrs. Elroy Avery spoke about protective ideas and that the visitors were American women and wives. Major McKinley responded warmly as a large reception followed.
In Cleveland on July 15 strikers armed with clubs attacked workers seen entering the Brown company site after learning of non-union recruitment. Many injured as assailants vanished, police unable to catch them, and the mayor called out the local militia.
The Wisconsin free silver convention met in Milwaukee on July 15 with delegates largely from the People's party. Chairman Cole opened the session and urged the Bryan Sewall ticket, praising the Washington platform and endorsing the Chicago financial plank.
Des Moines July 15 special. The state Republican convention opened with Congressman Hepburn presiding. He warned that the Democratic financial plan threatened disaster and urged pursuing bimetalism through international agreement. The convention recessed until 2 PM.

A committee representing the Free port Cycling club is around today urging merchants to close their stores Friday afternoon due to bicycle races at Taylor's park.
A large fire in Creston, the first Northwestern railroad station east of Rochelle, destroyed eight or ten business houses Monday evening. The drug store sparked the blaze, and limited local firefighting failed to stop it. Rochelle and DeKalb aided, but depot and telegraph lines narrowly escaped. trains were delayed as operators hurried critical messages through before lines failed.
