Loxpox July 9. Officials at the foreign office say the report that Spain has made formal overtures for peace through the British ambassador is without any truth.
There is no change in the situation after twenty four hours as Spanish authorities await to decide on the surrender proposition. No decision will be given before noon tomorrow and American officers expect negotiations to begin rather than an immediate surrender this Saturday.
