Three Die as Ice Plant Explosion Hits Armour Stockyards

An explosion in Armour & Co power house at Chicago stockyards products plant released ammonia fumes. Three men were killed and sixteen seriously injured. The blast occurred around 4 PM and caused extensive damage to the plant and surrounding area. Fire and rescue efforts rushed to the scene as investigators began assessing the disaster.

Eighth Juror Thaw Trial Begins With New Panel

Charles D. Newton a 65 year old retired businessman was chosen as juror No 8 in the Thaw trial today. A fresh panel of one hundred jurors has been summoned to appear in court tomorrow in New York.

Severe burns narrowly escape for Mrs Heisler

Mrs. Benjamin Heisler suffered severe burns after fainting in a North Galena avenue home and falling against a red hot coal stove. Her son rescued her before worse injuries occurred. A doctor treated her. she remained in critical condition today after a restless night.

Fire at Metropole Hotel damages second floor room

A lamp left burning in room 42 at the Metropole hotel likely ignited the carpet curtains and dresser, causing significant damage before boarders extinguished the blaze. Police were misdirected by a fire call mistaken for a fight, then aided in dousing the fire. Clifton hotel also reported a small fire from hot ashes but caused no damage.

Family Poisoning Strikes Wiltshire Household

The Wiltshire family on Van Buren Street was poisoned Sunday by chicken stewed the day before. Ptomaine poisoning developed in the evening as several members were at church. Dr. W. B. Peck found Mr and Mrs Wiltshire in critical condition and the children ill. Mrs Wiltshire grew very weak during the night.
