Death of Ellen Hannifan at Iroquois Street Home

Mrs Ellen Hannifan 76 native of County Kerry Ireland died last night at her Iroquois Street home after four months illness and a recent operation. A devout Catholic and longtime St Marys Church member, she leaves three sons and a daughter. Funeral held at 2 PM with Rev Schmidt officiating. Nearby notices recount Susanna Baker and Susanna Mills Baker deaths in Monroe and Freeport areas.

Lost an Arm Corn Shredder Claims Another Victim

Clair Brumley, feeding fodder at the M. T. Lee farm south of Sterling, had his left hand caught in a corn shredder roller. The arm was amputated four inches above the elbow. Brumley previously served as a private in Company B during the late war and returned home uninjured.
