Baymore Md Jan 10 Word arrives of the loss of the German ship Elizabeth from Hamburg with a crew of twenty two. Lifesaving efforts at Little Island and Dam Neck failed as waves capsized two lifeboats, drowning twenty two including most of the crew and leaving the captain’s fate unclear. Only four rescued, with one severely injured. The Elizabeth’s captain is among the dead.
Reports from Jan 10 recount a fatal Willington & Northern freight collision near Planopo station. The caboose burned after being struck, killing conductor Harry Hubert and passenger William J. Martin, with fireman severely injured but possibly recovering. An inquest blamed the asleep conductor.
