A Pennsylvania railroad eighteen hour westbound special wrecked at Black Diamond seven miles east of Johnstown after midnight. Fifty four passengers aboard, with 54 injured. Postmaster John F. Kline of Joliet probably fatally hurt. Pullman coaches plunged down a sixty foot embankment into the river. no one killed. The train ran about fifty mph and was late.
Currey of Kewanee Illinois was arrested for intoxication, found with 71.71 dollars, fined 9.65 and released. Later, found drunk again near Stephen street saloon, recovered nearly all but 75 cents of his money. He said he had been drinking for two months and plans to drink further at 75 cent Jags each.
Stephen A. Douglas encampment I O O F held its regular meeting last evening in Odd Fellows hall. Two candidates received the degree work. After the business session a social hour followed by an oyster supper.
A state patent issued on January 1 1849 conveyed a fractional quarter section in township 29 range 6 to Henry P B Catlins. The document was filed in the clerk of the circuit court office yesterday afternoon.
The Smith D. Atkins camp of Sons of Veterans will hold its regular session Tuesday night at the G A R hall. A number of candidates will be admitted, and refreshments will be served.
