At a Washington conference Secretary Bacon and the Mexican ambassador agreed that Mexico and the United States would join Salvadora Costa Rica and Guatemala in presenting identical representations to Honduras and Nicaragua. They insist the two nations settle their differences without war and submit to arbitration.
Washington testimony before the senate committee on military affairs details the Brownsville incident as an attack on Fort Brown garrison. Mingo Sanders, ex first sergeant of Company B Twenty fifth infantry, testified that the shooting was an assault rather than random violence.

John Clark of 60 North Galena avenue underwent brain surgery Saturday morning at St Francis hospital. Physicians are hopeful for a speedy recovery after a year of severe head pains blamed on his eyes. He had left the state university, worked at Col Lowden's farm running machinery and the electric plant, then grew worse and was delirious before the operation. Clark has many friends hoping for his full recovery.

Henry J Schulkamp and Miss Mamie M Ryan of Madison wed this morning in a ceremony conducted by Justice of the Peace W FE Goddard. The couple begin married life in Madison region.
In New York, February 11, all women except newspaper writers were barred from the Thaw murder trial. Jerome allowed a substitution for Mrs. Thaw’s testimony after initial objections. Writings by Mrs. Thaw and a note from the Cafe Martin were scrutinized as witnesses discussed Thaw's alleged insanity. Federal grand jury action against obscene Thaw trial reporting also noted.
Rockford YMCA meets Freeport YMCA in a two game series to erase a previous loss and balance the series. The curtain raiser features Rockford High School second team versus YMCA second string. First game starts at 8 with 25 cent admission.
YT. F. Rasback of Sterling who ran the West Freeport grocery store a few years ago was stricken with paralysis Saturday. His condition is serious. Rasback's daughter Leona was visiting Mrs. Philip Beebe last week and was called to Sterling. She was accompanied by Mrs. Belle Frick.
Mrs Adeline Mogle of Kent was brought into the county court this morning and adjudged insane. She was committed to Watertown.
A prominent Lucama, North Carolina, maker Who. A. Pertwell reports a dramatic improvement after using less than three bottles of Electric Bitters. Diagnosed with Bright's disease in the diabetes stage, he claims the remedy has halted liver and bladder troubles and expects a permanent cure. Sold by Joseph Emmert's Druggist for 50 cents.
The Stephenson County State's Attorney Burrell filed a written objection in county court challenging paying orders to Wm. H. Shons for several bridges approved by the board of supervisors. Vouchers are withheld until a court confirms authority. Burrell argues contracts lacked public notice rendering payments void. The notice warns county clerk of bond liability if orders are delivered contrary to a court decree.
Charles H. Emder, day clerk at the Clifton house, departs for Appleton Wisconsin to take a similar post at the Sherman house after two weeks in Freeport. Mrs. Emder will follow later this week. Joseph Miller succeeds Emder at Clifton.
John F. Smith reappeared Sunday evening after vanishing Thursday. He claims he walked to Rockford, followed Illinois Central tracks, and stayed there until returning by interurban car. He appears normal and explains his actions clearly.
Jasper Secker, a machinist at Sinais Central shops, suffered extensive burns to the neck, ears, chest, hands and wrists yesterday while cleaning an engine. He investigated a suspected clogged exhaust and was burned when the muddy pipe released steam. Dr. Fair treated him and transported him home on Empire Street.
A breakdown of one engine at the Freeport Railway, Light and Power Co. last evening forced the use of Interurban power from early evening until 11 o clock. As a result, half of the cars in regular service were sent to the barn after the outage.

Lena reports the death of 17 year old John Karburg Jr of Scales Mound after being found unconscious near Illinois Central tracks. Coroner Peck to hold inquest. father and brother collect remains. Death due to temporal bone fracture with brain hemorrhage.
Articles of incorporation filed in the circuit court announce a new paint company to be known as the National Carbon Paint Co. The incorporators are Henry B. Witte Joseph H. Vincent and Charles B. Courtney with capital stock of 1000 dollars. The amount is 55 dollars less than the assets of the Natural Carbon By-Products company recently purchased by Mr. Witte.
Roy N. Woods sustained a painful wound at the Central shops when a brass plug fragment chipped off while he was driving it into an engine bub. The piece embedded in the bone of his left hand and will keep him laid up for some time.
Mrs. B. F. Timime shows improvement today and moved about the house after a severe burn from throwing refuse into the furnace. George H. Van Emon of the census bureau, in town to compile divorcee records, is confined to his hotel with a grip attack. Mrs. Ben Clark remains in bed with the grippe, while Mrs. L. L. Ross is listed as sick.
