Washington December 30. Congressman Robert R. Hitt denied reports that he seeks the Ambassador to Paris or any diplomatic post. He met with the president yesterday after months of illness and said he is restored and ready to resume duties in Congress. He left the diplomatic service over twenty years ago and intends to stay in Congress.

Long illness ends for German-born city resident
Helvig Knautt died after seven weeks illness at age 76. Born in Allendorf Germany on August 16 1848 he came to the United States in 1872 and married Agnes Smith the same year. He served in the Franco Prussian war and worked as a butcher and trusted stationary engineer. He leaves wife five children and five sisters. Funeral Sunday 2 pm from 77 Chestnut Street with Rev F Holke officiating. burial in city cemetery. Also Sophia Grell died aged 87 after fifty years in America. Survived by daughter Mrs Peter Metzgar and eleven grandchildren. Funeral Monday at 9 am from the home and 1:30 pm from St Joseph church. burial German Catholic cemetery.
