H. C. Bentley Dead After Forty Three Years In Freeport
Henry Dinsley Bentley prominent Freeport citizen dies at 3 30 a m in his Lincoln avenue home after months with Brights disease. Funeral Monday at 7 pm conducted by Rev James Shields with Excelsior lodge Masons attending. Bentley, born Greenwich England 1548, came to America in 1851. built a piano stool factory and music publishing business. Survived by wife Elida Pattison, sons Charles J. Bentley and H D Bentley Jr., a brother Charles F. Bentley and sister Elizabeth A. Bentley. active in First Presbyterian church and Freeport clubs.

Medical Charlatans Arrested Near Lanark
Two men posing as medical experts were arrested in Lanark after attempting to cash forged notes in the county. They had previously visited Mt Cars and pressured John Yamupel, a clothing dealer, to discount notes bearing forged Molter and Pfile names for 50 and 125 dollars. Deputies Olson and Kirchhoefer secured custody of the prisoners for further proceedings.

Wanted for Jumping a Hotel Bill at Metropole
Police issue a warrant for the arrest of John Lord and his wife Rooney Settles for failing to pay a hotel bill at the Metropole. The couple vanished yesterday and are believed to have left town. In a separate case Charles Rooney pleaded guilty in county court to assaulting James ONeill, a former Ringling Bros. employee, and was fined 200 dollars with further expenses to be paid.

Dr J T White will host a Christmas entertainment at the Sanatorium for patients and children without gifts. Mrs W H J Stratton received an $8,000 check from National Union via local secretary C S Barrett. Christmas at the King’s Daughters Settlement Home will be merry with a Sunday school entertainment on Sunday at 3 pm and a Christmas dinner on Tuesday at noon for over 400 invited children. First English Lutheran Sunday school will skip the “Flying Christmas” again. members should bring offerings at services and a committee will distribute goods to needy families Monday.
