Washington Dec 21 Special After a four minute session the Senate adjourned until Jan 4 and the House until Jan 5 The postmaster general removed H K Nevin of Colorado and J W Whitehead of Ohio rural mail carriers for alleged efforts to influence legislation The men were on the executive committee of the National Rural Carriers Association.
A Milwaukee and St. Paul passenger train derailed near Lena Wisconsin after a broken rail last night. Engineer Gaven and Fireman Miller were killed and fifteen others were injured. The engine and two coaches were ditched while the rest of the cars remained on the track.
The Metropolitan club house, noted as a home for men of prominence in social and official life, was completely gutted by fire today in Washington. Loss estimated between 60 000 and 100 000 dollars.

Police from Baraboo arrest Rooney a Ringling Brothers foreman charged with assault with intent to kill James O Neill after a Sunday afternoon attack in Freeport. O Neill was badly injured and hospitalized while authorities pursued Rooney through city yards and trains. Rooney may plead self defense and faces a $200 fine plus hospital and medical costs.
