A Pretoria special reports 3,000 British troops, led by an armored train, advancing toward Colesburg from Naattwpoett. A Boer laager at Lapysarra notes the British stormed Lombardskop, disabling a Creusot gun and a howitzer and seizing a small Maxim.
Frankfort Ky Dec 9 Special election commissioners signed Taylor's certificate of election and filed official vote totals with the secretary of state showing Taylor 198714 Goebel 191881 a Taylor plurality of 2383 Other Republican tickets on the state slate also had certificates signed by the commissions
Washington on December 9 special service reports the Roberts case resuming with Roberts present. He concedes a court record showing a 1889 plea of guilty under the Edmunds Tucker law to plural marriages and living as a husband to multiple wives since about 1870 or since 1890. He pleads not guilty and demurs to the committee's jurisdiction.
Washington dispatch reports from Vigan that Spanish prisoners say Otis forces fought Aguinaldo's guard near Cervantes, fifty miles southeast of Vigan. Heavy enemy losses, one American killed and six wounded. Howse's column advances to San Jose after pushing toward Bangued.
Sycamore reports Frank James, a prominent local farmer living two miles east, suffered a severe hand injury while feeding a corn shredder on the Henry Carlson farm on Thursday. The thumb was amputated to save his hand.
In Caragas Venezuela on December 9 a great battle is expected to take place today at Maracaibo as reported by Special. The looming clash involves forces massing for a significant confrontation in the region.
Alvin Malnix once of Harlem township moved to Warren then Hampton and later vanished from home last summer. His wife sold out and moved to Freeport. Mr Gates of the Minnesota board of charities arrived to oversee his case. Sheriff Fox transported Mannix to Galena for care.

City has spent thousands on fumigation and precautions. Surrounding towns Sterling Polo Amboy report cases but Dixon sees mild illness with few physicians called.
