Paris Dec 2 Special The American peace commissioners concluded consultations with Merrit and then considered Spanish commercial rights in the West Indies for a term of years. The joint session lasted two hours with no real progress and adjournment set for tomorrow. Vienna Dec 2 Special Emperor Francis Joseph marked the fiftieth anniversary of his reign by granting amnesty to political offenders in Hungary and awarding decorations. JookHoom Dec 2 Special A message signed Andree claims a balloon crossed the Urals. Liston Dec 2 Special Seven people drowned when the Clan Drummond steamer sank in a Bay of Biscay storm en route from Norfolk to New England.
Commodore Phillip, previously at Norfolk, is to proceed with the flagship New York to Havana immediately and assume temporary command of the North Atlantic squadron for the Cuba mission until February at the earliest due to yellow fever concerns. The Second division, Seventh army corps has also been ordered to Havana.
In Rockford Illinois on December 1 a planned double wedding was halted when one groom disappeared. Joseph Richens failed to appear for his marriage to Miss Ollie Miner, while George Hughes and Mrs Miner were to wed. Richens, last seen at the railroad station at midnight, left town with belongings cleared from his room. No motive given. Gov Tanner heads to Chicago unresolved Macoupin county indictments.
Brakemen Arthur Hickey and Frank Connor were badly hurt in a Burlington freight wreck at a bridge west of town this morning. Hickey died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The Second Congregational Church of Rockford unanimously voted to extend a pastoral call to Rev. John Sheridan Zelle of Cleveland to succeed Rev. Walter M. Barrows who moved east last year.
New York reports that three coal barges were lost during the recent event. Details remain scarce as officials assess the incident and search for remaining wreckage.
The W.O.N. club gathered at Mr. and Mrs. John Trunck on Foley street for a pleasant evening with a luncheon praised by guests. Albert Grattelo, Mrs. Babcock, and Ed Strubman won prizes. C. F. Truckenmiller of Bolton wed Lizzie Liebhart locally at the German M. E. parsonage with Rev. Hartke officiating. Early Hour Club held its third seasonal dance at old Temperance hall with Holsapple's orchestra.

Ladies of the Maccabees hold their regular meeting and elect officers tonight. Henry Gilbert resigns from Charles Hanford's cigar store, Edward Harnish assumes the position. Trinity Church hosts tonight's preaching in preparation for communion with Rev W H Fouke speaking. quarterly conference follows.

Mae Stewart John Taylor and Helen Zieley of Rockford depart for California next Tuesday. Kathryn Wagner of Grand Rapids, a guest at C S Hill’s residence, leaves for home this morning much to friends’ regret.
A special meeting is held in the club rooms Saturday at 9 PM to discuss important business with all members urged to attend. President W. W. Krave presides.
County Clerk issued a marriage license to Charles Barker and Miss Pearl Wagner, both residents of Rock Grove township, formalizing the union between the two individuals.
The Ringling Brothers circus travels from the south into Baraboo Wisconsin for its winter quarters, stopping here tonight before continuing on to Baraboo where the winter home is located.
O. T. Smith, superintendent of the water works, has purchased the house and lot at the corner of Douglas Avenue and West Street from 8. 8. Hoefer, long occupied by Edward Bengston, for $2,000.
Charles Stopfer, a worker at the Illinois Central round house, was riding the engine pilot in the yard when he slipped while getting off and was dragged a long distance. His foot was badly crushed, he was taken to the hospital where Dr Buckley attends him, and he faces possible loss of the foot. Stopfer has three children and a grieving widow. Brown and Dollmeyer will display a large line of Copley Prints in a few days.
Paul Gilmore headlines the patriotic drama The Dawn of Freedom based on Cuban events during the three month conflict. The ensemble delivers a strong performance with a superb cast and an enthusiastic, large audience memorable for Gilmore’s commanding stage presence and promising future.

It also advertises Prof Carnelle, a clairvoyant at 74 Exchange St offering marriage and courtship advice, with hours 9 am to 8 pm. Cameras and supplies are advertised at Guenther's Drug Store at Galena St and Galena Ave.

Rev J J Cramer attended the funeral of his lifelong friend Daniel Hoover in Freeport on Wednesday. The two and a third brother Rev John B Cromer, once estranged for 55 years, reunited last June in Freeport before Cromer’s death. The gathering marked their final summons.
