Senator Davis, chair of the foreign relations committee and chosen for the peace commission, met with President and Secretary Day in Washington to map preliminary approaches to Philippine settlement. Relief of Cubans Aid Expanded by Central Committee

Miners Arrivals at Pana Spark Labor Tension

Governor Tanner was informed that 150 imported African American miners arrived at Pana to work in the mines and that serious trouble was expected. State officials sent the mine inspector to verify two years of required experience before employment, while union miners persuaded Alabama workers to leave the Springside camp. Richland Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in Chicago

George Wagner, alias George Whitney, ex convict and expert safe blower, is under arrest in Chicago for the August 5 Bank of Richland Michigan robbery. He was caught at 2125 Wabash avenue after officers tailed him into a house and fought to subdue him. The $52,500 in cash and notes was taken with dynamite used to blast the safe, and the robbers escaped on a hand car.
