Mr Stevenson visiting at C H Rosenstiel’s tied a $200 horse to an iron post on South Galena avenue. The horse tangled in harness and plunged onto the hitching post, its side pierced and the animal died swiftly. A cloudburst at Saw Mill Run caused a twenty foot high tidal wave that carried away a rear porch in Violet alley near West Carson. Occupants Irene and Regis Loftus Genevieve and Margaret Shaughnessy Nellie Souis and two men were swept away but rescued by sand diggers at the run mouth. Western Pennsylvania suffered heavy rainfall with property damage but no further casualties reported.
